Yono was born in 1955, in Yogyakarta, central Java.The very fine detail in his work is exceptional and incredibly time consuming. The spectacular colours he achieves require many separate processes of dying and waxing, and an almost encyclopaedic knowledge of the composition of dyes. He has exhibited his oil paintings and batik internationally since 1984.
